On Tuesday 17 November 2015 the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham James, officially opened and blessed the new WiSpire head office in Rackheath Industrial Estate. WiSpire is a Norfolk-based provider of high-speed broadband service, targeting those people and businesses who would otherwise be left in the broadband dark ages.
The Bishop was joined by key members from Broadland Council who supported the move of the company to The Cube in Rackheath to accommodate their growing team.
Also present at the ceremony was Jeff Henry, CEO of local media player Archant which joined the Diocese of Norwich as fellow-shareholder and supporter of the company earlier this year as they move towards a period of accelerated growth.
Significant parts of Norfolk still struggle with slow broadband speeds. WiSpire is therefore focused on providing extra capacity in its network and increasing the number of customers using their broadband service.
Although unavailable to attend the event, George Freeman, Member of Parliament for Mid Norfolk and Minister for Life Sciences provided a short statement of support.
Mr Freeman said “I’m so proud to support WiSpire and congratulate everyone involved in the opening of these new office facilities. There is still much more work to do, continuing your pioneering work using local churches to help those living in ‘black spots;’ in isolated rural areas.”
Steve Maine, Chief Executive of WiSpire added; “Broadband connectivity is a top priority for rural Norfolk and the move to our new offices here in Rackheath has been an essential enabler in the transformation of the company. With the additional capacity and greater resilience in our network, we are now able to support a larger number of customers with our range of broadband services.”
